Dr. Steinmann has over 25 years of experience working in operational and executive roles at large, medium and early-stage global technology companies based in Europe and the US. He has held multiple roles including as board director, CEO, COO, Chief Strategy Officer, Chief Product Officer and EVP of Marketing, where he has developed strategies to turn companies around which led to increased growth and successful exits.
He was recently a Board Director and CEO at Mobilize Systems, UK, which created mobile experiences and engagement for retail customers, including mobile loyalty, m-Commerce, and audience-based campaigns, where he completed the turn-around and successful acquisition of the company by Trust Payments, UK. Prior to Mobilize, he was the VP of Corporate Development and Strategy at Evolving Systems (EVOL) where he orchestrated the business transformation from telecoms to enterprise big data, intelligent campaign management, and customer value management including the acquisitions of two UK-based companies, Business Logic Systems and Lumata Holding.
Prior to Evolving, he was the Founder, President & CEO of eZuce, a venture backed startup in the enterprise communications market. He secured the initial seed financing and led the company through its early years of growth, including the building of a core off-shore R&D team in Bucharest, Romania, three rounds of equity financings and 200,000 installed users at companies including Amazon, RedHat and Realogy. Prior to eZuce, he was VP of Marketing at BlueSocket, a provider of enterprise wireless LAN convergence solutions, where he developed the strategy for the company to pivot from a centralized to a distributed architecture of their WiFi product portfolio, enabling cloud hosted control that opened new markets. He established and led the relationship with Nortel, culminating in Bluesocket’s acquisition by Nortel. At Nortel, he was appointed General Manager for SMB Unified Communications, where he grew the business unit to over $300 Million in annual revenues globally and the most within Nortel’s Enterprise division.
Previously, Dr. Steinmann was part of the founding team and a Venture Partner at the $1 Billion Vesbridge Partners Fund VI focused on IT, software, mobility and telecoms. Prior to Vesbridge, he was the Director of Strategic Marketing at Syndesis, a venture backed software company with investors including Sequoia, Greylock and Goldman Sachs. The company grew into becoming the leading service provisioning (software) solutions company in the telecommunications industry and was acquired by Subex Azure. Martin started his career at Lucent Technologies with marketing and product management responsibility for Lucent's Asynchronous Transport Mode (ATM) switching portfolio.
Martin received his Maters in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from ETH, Zurich and his PhD in Physics from DTU (Technical University of Denmark). He also served as a mentor / judge at Mass-Challenge and MIT-CHIEF.
